Eight Extraordinary Channels: Theory & Demonstration
Join Ann Cecil-Sterman for a weekend of study and demonstration of the Eight Extraordinary Channels
September 28th - 29th, 2024 in Chicago, Illinois
This two day class will be in the beautiful Shambhala Meditation Center. The Center is located at 37 N. Carpenter Street in West Loop Chicago, IL. The class offers 14 CEU credits. Class will begin Saturday with lecture covering all eight of the extraordinary channels. This will take most of Saturday and with the remaining time we'll have the opportunity to watch Ann demonstrate intake, diagnosis and treatment of these channels. Sunday there will be time for questions but the day will be dedicated to more live, in person treatments of patients. Ann will give insight into point selection and technique as well as fleshing out the use of particular channels for treatments.

Aug 18th with Jillian “Cicada Emergence Theme”
Join us for a 60 minute, beginners' level Hatha yoga class where yogis will be taken through the lifecycle of a cicada, from underground through flight. This slower paced class is suitable for beginners and all levels welcome. Don’t forget your mat! We’ll have a few extras.
Jillian McKeown lives in Rogers Park and received her 200-hour registered yoga teacher training certificate from Chi-Town Shakti. Her style of Hatha yoga is slower and thoughtful, encouraging practitioners to meet themselves where their bodies and minds are at that given moment.
Current Book: Teach People, Not Poses: Lessons in Yoga Anatomy and Functional Movement to Unlock Body Intelligence by Mary Richards (Jillian’s a librarian)
Aug 25th Yin Yoga with Kathryn
All welcome to join this full body yin yoga class to rehydrate tissues and increase circulation throughout the body and brain. We'll use time, rather than muscular effort, to effect change in fascia, ligaments, and joints. Most shapes are floor postures. Underpinned by Hatha yoga and Chinese Medicine, yin yoga is an excellent companion to Acupuncture and other healing modalities. Bring a mat and blanket, blocks if you have them! We’ll have a few of these things on hand.
Kathryn lives in Rogers Park and offers classes through Lakeside Yin. Kathryn teaches a functional approach to yoga in the tradition of yin yoga founders Paul and Suzee Grilley.
